PREMARIN VAGINAL CREAM

Premarin Vaginal cream is a female sex hormone (estrogen). It is a part of female hormone replacement therapy which helps in treating estrogen deficiency symptoms like hot flushes (red and warm face) and vaginal dryness. It should be applied all over the vagina as per the provided instructions by the doctor. Even if your symptoms improve, you should continue the treatment as it has been prescribed. When you start using this medicine you may experience irritation or itching. This usually goes away if you continue using it. You may also get pain in your abdomen, a genital rash, headache and vaginal thrush (candidiasis). Tell your doctor if you have bleeding in your vagina. Your doctor may give you an alternative medicine. Before using this medicine you should tell your doctor if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding or if you have ever had a blood clot in your legs or your lungs. Once you have started using this medicine you should have regular check-ups to discuss the benefits of your treatment. It should not interact with any other medicines but it is not usually recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

HOW TO PROPERLY USE THE CREAM:

It is very important that you use this medicine exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not use more of it, do not use it more often, and do not use it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. To do so may cause unwanted side effects. This medicine comes with a patient information leaflet. Read and follow the instructions in the leaflet carefully. Ask your doctor if you have any questions. This medicine is to be used only in the vagina. Use at bedtime unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

To use the cream:

· Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine.
· Remove cap from the tube and screw the nozzle end of the applicator to the tube.
· Gently squeeze the tube from the bottom to force enough amount into the barrel. Use the marked stopping points on the applicator to measure the correct dose.
· Unscrew the applicator from the tube, and lie on the back with knees drawn up, and gently insert the applicator deeply into the vagina and press plunger downward to its original position.
· Wash the applicator with mild soap and water. Do not use hot water.

Hormone placement therapy (HRT) is a treatment to relieve symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes, vaginal dryness, and reduced sex drive. Since menopause can last for several years, this treatment can make a big improvement to your daily life and mood. Estrogen is one of two important hormones (the other is progesterone) used in this treatment. Vaginal tablets and gels are an easy way to deliver hormones but may not treat all the symptoms. You should use this medicine as it is prescribed, and for as long as it is prescribed by your doctor. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.
