What is Staxyn?
Staxyn (vardenafil) relaxes the muscles that line the insides of blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow to specific parts of the body.
Taking Staxyn with certain other medicines can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. Do not take vardenafil if you also take riociguat (Adempas) or a nitrate drug such as nitroglycerin.
Before taking this medicine
Staxyn should not be used if you are allergic to vardenafil or if you are on other pulmonary arterial hypertension medications, such as riociguat (Adempas).
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
long QT syndrome (in you or a family member); high or low blood pressure; seizures; heart disease, heart rhythm issues; a heart attack, stroke, or congestive heart failure; long QT syndrome (in you or a family member); high or low blood pressure; seizures;
a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia; a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia; a blood cell disorder such as sickle cell anemia, multiple myeloma, or leukemia;
Hemophilia, for example, is a bleeding disorder.
an ulcer in the stomach;
Hearing or vision issues, vision loss; an inherited eye disorder such as retinitis pigmentosa; a physical malformation of the penis (such as Peyronie’s disease); or if you’ve been told you shouldn’t have sexual intercourse for health reasons.
How should I use Staxyn?
Follow your doctor’s instructions for taking Staxyn orally disintegrating tablets. Read all drug guides or instruction sheets and follow all guidelines on your prescription label.
Staxyn side effects
If you develop hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, seek emergency medical attention right away.
Stop taking this medicine and get emergency medical help if you have:
Symptoms of a heart attack include chest discomfort or pressure, pain that spreads to your jaw or shoulder, nausea, and perspiration; vision changes or sudden vision loss; or an erection that is uncomfortable or lasts more than four hours (prolonged erection can damage the penis).
Stop using Staxyn and call your doctor at once if you have:
Ringing in the ears or sudden hearing loss; irregular heartbeat; swelling in the hands, ankles, or feet; shortness of breath; a light-headed feeling as if you’re about to pass out;
a painful penile erection that lasts 4 hours or longer; or a seizure (convulsions).
Common Staxyn side effects may include:
Stuffy nose, sinus discomfort; headache, dizziness; upset stomach; or back pain are all symptoms of flushing (warmth, redness, or tingling).
