What is losartan?
Losartan belongs to the angiotensin II receptor antagonist class of medicines. It prevents blood arteries from constricting, lowering blood pressure and increasing blood flow.
Losartan is a medication that is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). It’s also used to help those with heart problems reduce their risk of stroke.
If you are pregnant, avoid using losartan. If you become pregnant while using this product, stop using it immediately and notify your doctor. If you take this medicine during your second or third trimester, it could harm or kill your unborn child. Use a reliable birth control method.
If you are allergic to losartan, you should not use this prescription.
Before taking this medicine
If you have diabetes, avoid taking losartan with aliskiren-containing medications (Amturnide, Tekturna, Tekamlo, Valturna). If you have kidney problems, you should avoid taking this medicine with aliskiren.
Tell your doctor if you have any of the following conditions to ensure that this medicine is safe for you:
illness of the liver;
heart failure due to congestive heart failure;
an electrolyte imbalance (for example, low potassium levels in the blood); or
If you’re thirsty, drink some water.
How should I take losartan?
Follow your doctor’s instructions for taking losartan. Follow your prescription’s instructions to the letter. Your doctor may adjust your dose from time to time to ensure you get the optimal outcomes. This medicine should not be taken in bigger or smaller doses or for longer than suggested.
Losartan can be taken with or without food.

chest pain, wheezing
sleepiness, disorientation, mood swings, thirst, appetite loss, nausea, and vomiting;
Swelling, weight gain, shortness of breath, and urination that is less frequent or absent; or
potassium levels are high (slow heart rate, weak pulse, muscle weakness, tingly feeling).
