What is Descovy?
Emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide are combined in Descovy. Antiviral drugs like emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide stop the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from growing in your body.


When Descovy was withdrawn in some persons with hepatitis B, the disease worsened. When persons with hepatitis B stop taking their medication, they need to be closely monitored for a few months. Stop taking Descovy without first consulting your doctor.


What do I need to tell my doctor before I take Descovy?
If you’re allergic to emtricitabine, tenofovir, or any other ingredient in Descovy, don’t take it (emtricitabine and tenofovir alafenamide).
If you are allergic to any drugs, foods, or other substances, including this one. Tell your doctor about your allergy and any symptoms you had, such as a rash, hives, itching, shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or any other symptoms.

How is Descovy best taken?
Follow your doctor’s instructions when taking Descovy. Read all that has been given to you. Pay great attention to all of the directions.
It’s fine to take it with or without food.

What are some other side effects of Descovy?
Side effects are possible with any medicine. Many others, on the other hand, experience no or moderate negative effects. If any of these or any other adverse effects annoy you or do not go away, contact your doctor or seek medical help:
Stomach ache.
